Roadmap

The strategy of SACCCS is to develop and implement a roadmap for the commercial application of CCS in South Africa.

The first and second phases of the roadmap have been completed and now the preparation for the Test Injection Experiment is the focus for the Centre. The current Charter for the Centre is five years, which will take the centre from the Carbon Atlas to the Test Injection Experiment.

Work Plan

The third milestone of the work plan is a Test Injection Experiment whose objective is a “proof of concept” for South African geological formations. The diagram gives a schematic overview of the work plan showing the importance of human capacity building, the development of a business plan and the need to address country specific issues such as geology and national regulation.
